Image of Mervin Wampold Jr.Merv Wampold, Jr. founded Wampold Strategies in January 2005 after working with a national democratic direct mail firm for five election cycles as a strategist and partner.

Merv’s experience in direct mail spans from 1996 through the present, producing mail for local and national races. His winning record with ballot initiatives has earned him special recognition. Merv’s broad experience in campaign politics, grassroots organizing, association PAC management, external messaging for associations and corporations and managing campaigns has earned him a reputation as one of the best strategists in the business.

Notable clients of Wampold Strategies include U.S. Senator Amy Klobuchar, former Senator Jim Webb (VA), an Independent Expenditure on behalf of Senator Michael Bennet (CO) and Mayors Shirley Franklin (Atlanta, GA), Bob Coble (Columbia, SC), Mark Stodola (Little Rock, AK), Baton Rouge’s first black mayor Kip Holden and Mayor Mitch Landrieu of New Orleans.

Merv has also been the primary mail consultant for the Trust For Public Land and other conservation organizations, where his record of winning open space referenda has led to success in 31 states, including the largest voter-approved state conservation measures in Minnesota (2008) and Florida (2014). Merv also acted as a General Consultant and produced mail to defeat the Personhood Amendment in Mississippi (2011) by a margin of 58-42.

Following the 2000 Presidential election, Merv spent five weeks in South Florida with the Gore-Lieberman recount committee. Merv earned both his bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate from Louisiana State University. He is an adjunct professor of political communications with the Manship School of Mass Communication at LSU.

Merv spends his free time fly fishing, duck hunting, enjoying music, reading and cooking.
